Composite Fillings

Composite Fillings

When the inner dentin layer of the tooth becomes infected, we refer to this as a cavity or caries. The procedure to place a filling is performed in order to remove the decayed dentin and restore the surface of the tooth.

Unlike the silver-colored amalgam fillings, composite fillings are more resistant to wear, create a better bond with the tooth and are color adjustable. The filling is also smaller and, more importantly, aesthetically pleasing and natural looking, since the composite color can be matched to the patient’s natural tooth color.

All fillings have a certain lifetime and, eventually, need to be replaced. If feasible, Dr. Schwartz may choose to replace an old, silver-colored amalgam filling with a tooth-colored composite filling. This is a good opportunity to improve the look of your smile if you have existing amalgam fillings.

Quality, concern, and respect go into all our dental services. From cleanings to fillings to bridges and implants, you can expect a high quality approach in every step.
